If you ever have questions about the validity of a request for money or information about your account, contact us. Scammers love long weekends! If you’re planning to hit the road this Labor Day, stay one step ahead of the bad guys with these three easy tips... 1. Travel offers
Watch out for travel deals that seem too good to be true. If you receive an email from a hotel or travel club, call the business directly to verify the information, and take the time to read the fine print and pay special attention to cancellation costs. 2. Card readers at gas pumps If your plans include a road trip, watch out for card skimmers at ATMs and gas pumps. If the card reader looks strange or feels loose, pay inside at the gas station or use a different ATM. 3. Social media Wait until you’re back home to post photos from your trip. Posting them while you’re gone could get the attention of someone looking for an opportunity to break into your home. While you’re away from home, use your NorthCountry debit or credit card whenever possible for an extra layer of fraud protection. When you return from your trip, take a close look at your account statement and credit card statement for any purchases you don’t recognize. See some? Contact us promptly and we’ll try to help. Remember! If you ever have questions about your account, contact us. We’re trained to spot fraud and can help you avoid making an expensive mistake.
