Carnival rides at a state fair
Headed to the Champlain Valley Fair?

With a little pre-planning, you can spin yourself (or your kids) silly without breaking the bank.

Here are my top four suggestions:

1. Find a place that sells discount ride bracelets, while supplies last. You’ll pay only $24 for unlimited rides on any day.

2. Pick up a coupon at Maplefields, and pay only $70 per carload on Wednesday, Aug. 29. Includes parking! And admission! And ride bracelets! Bring four friends, and that comes to $14 per person. Load up your seven-seat family van and the cost drops to $10 per person!

3. Before 2pm on Thursday, Aug. 30, donate four non-perishable food items at the gate and get a ride bracelet for only $20. Bonus: You’ll get free admission too!

4. If you’re ok with only going on a few rides, buying individual tickets might be the way to go. $25 will buy you 50 tickets -- enough for about 6 rides. Need more than that? Pool resources with a friend to buy 120 tickets for $50, and your half (60 tickets) will get you about 7 rides.

See you at the Champlain Valley Fair, Aug. 24 – Sept. 2!
